Protein Skimmers: Installation
Each of the four different DB ReefTech protein skimmer have different installation options available. Please note that the options detailed below are not the only ones possible, with the exact installation depending on the type of system (sump or no sump), preferred placement and space available for the protein skimmer. However, these installations shown are the more common ways untilised on a reef aquarium.

- Display tank and sump
- Display tank and sump, using overflow
- Display tank and sump, using overflow with bypass
- Display tank and sump, operating in sump
- Display tank and sump, operating in sump with baffle
Display tank only
This installation is suitable for the follow protein skimmer configurations:
Display tank only, with skimmer unit located above water level of the display tank and using a dedicated feed pump.
Display tank and sump
This installation is suitable for the follow protein skimmer configurations:
Display tank with sump, with skimmer unit located next to the sump using a dedicated feed pump.
Display tank and sump, using overflow
This installation is suitable for the follow protein skimmer configurations:
Display tank with sump, with skimmer unit located next to the sump using overflow feed.
Display tank and sump, using overflow with bypass
This installation is suitable for the follow protein skimmer configurations:
Display tank with sump, with skimmer unit located next to the sump using overflow feed and bypass for excessive water flowrate.
Display tank and sump, operating in sump
This installation is suitable for the follow protein skimmer configurations:
Display tank with sump, with skimmer unit in the sump and using skimmer pump only or with dedicated feed pump.
Display tank and sump, operating in sump with baffle
This installation is suitable for the follow protein skimmer configurations:
Display tank with sump, with skimmer unit in the sump with outlet water over a baffle and using skimmer pump only or with dedicated feed pump.
Customisation
If you require something different from the standard unit specifications then that can be easily accommodated. Since each DB ReefTech unit is hand made, it is very easy to provide fully customisation to your requirements. This includes changing the dimensions to fit into a required space (such as limited height, footprint or shape) or creating a model/size that isn't currently a part of the advertised product range. Please note that customisation does not necessarily mean an additional cost. In the majority of cases it makes no difference at all as the labour and material required are not significantly altered.

Lifetime Repair Warranty
If any DB ReefTech product is damaged during its lifetime, then DB ReefTech will repair and return the unit to full working order with minimal expense to the customer (within reason as noted below). This lifetime repair warranty covers the entire DB ReefTech product range; Protein Skimmers, Calcium Reactors, Refugiums and Fish Traps.
In the case of a simple repair job, requiring gluing and some minor parts, there will be no parts or labour costs. Something more substantial, with a significant amount of work required and/or parts, then it will incur a charge for parts at cost price plus a minimal labour charge. In all cases the customer is required to cover the expense of shipment to and from DB ReefTech. It should be noted that some repairs may not be possible, short of building a totally new unit, or due to the extent of the damage not worth performing. These cases are not covered by the warranty.
